Mataji
Mataji

She was born in Patna on 7th January 1944 to Late Shri Brij Kishore Prasad serving in the armed forces and Late Shrimati Krishamohini a very religious lady. She spent her first 10 Years in Muzzafarpur and then moved to Bhagalpur where her father was allotted a Bunglow with huge area around it which had a Church and a temple in its premises.

Shridevi was a restless soul and very reclusive since childhood. She was attached to animals & would go around feeding Cows, birds & dogs.

She would spend hours roaming around in the wilderness by herself. She would be attracted by Saints & would rush to meet them as if they were her real family. She was Spiritual since earlydays & was curious about scriptures, rebirth, reincarnation etc.

Once the diety Hanumanji in the temple situated in the premises started sweating &  there were drops of water all over his murti. Inspite of wiping, it continued to sweat, Subsequently some puja was conducted and only then this phenomenon stopped.

When this land was bought by others the temple was broken down. It is known that the hand which did the breaking were cut by a machine in an accident.

When she was 14 she had a strange experience. She was studying for her exams when she heard a flute playing in the silence of night. She was completely mesmerised as if someone was calling her. Many many years later her Gurudev asked her if she heard the flute he was playing.

Throughout her life she would have some kind of Spiritual experience. She would hear footsteps from a wooden slipper or she would feel someone was walking with her or she would feel a touch on her forehead. She was convinced it was her guide whom later she knew as “Shri Siddhdata” or “Baba” which is how he is known.

Once she saw a snake in a dry well struggling to come up. She threw a rope down to help him. The gardener rushed & forced her to move away.

Once she was sitting near a graveyard and she felt a cool breeze speaking to her & instinctively she cleaned the space and put some flowers there without knowing whose grave it was.

Such was her disposition, Saintly from her early years. Her family used to call her “Fakir”.

She did her graduation & post graduation from Patna Women’s College. Subsequently she moved to Ranchi where in 1962 she lost her father to whom she was very close. In 1963 she was married & had three daughters. Following years of her life were spent in taking care of her family.

In 1978 she met her Guru (Swami Sudarshanacharyaji Maharaj) and she felt finally she had met the guide she had been looking for all her life. Due to her simplicity and total devotion she was blessed by her Sadgurudev. Her dedication and undettered faith earned her a special place amongst the disciples of Guruji Maharaj. She was given Diksha three times which by itself is an indication of her Gurudev’s faith in her.

1984 in the pure and Spiritually vibrant abode of Guru Dattatreya in Girgirnar (Gujrat) she was given diksha for the first time to become the first ever disciple of Guru Swami Sudarshanacharyaji Maharaj and was since then known as “Shridevi”. A decade later 1994 she was again given “naam” in Allahabad at prayag in congregation of Rivers Ganga, Yamuna & Saraswati. In this year itself she renounced her worldly attire & took Sanyas. In 1995 she was again given Diksha with 10 other Disciples. She spent 24 years in the Seva of Gurudev & imbibing his teachings & philosophies simultaneously.

In 1990 she founded a School by the name of “Ashirwad Public High School” with the blessings & direction of Sadgurudev. This educational institution was her contribution to the Society by means of providing quality education to economically weaker section of society at lower cost. This school since then has progressed and till date provides modern education with traditional ethical values – Many children are provided concessional or free education.

Shridevi Gurudham was formed as the natural sequence from a school to a spiritual guidance centre. Sadhvi Shridevi was directed by divine forces to construct this dham. This was a outcome of her lifetimes “Service” to her Gurudev & Sharanagati to Lord Narayan.

She spends her time doing “Yagya”, “Jap” & Satsang.

She has inspired & continues to inspire many to follow the path as shown by Gurudevji.

She lives each day as if it was a prayer offered to her Gurudev.

She is an epitome of “Guru Bhakti” and is an ideal disciple unparalleled in today’s world.
